d. April 30, 2021

Smith, Keith "Birdman" Allen, 69, of Chicago formerly of Washington, IL, passed away April 28, 2021. His beloved wife of 34 years, Cindy Wood, was at his bedside when he passed. He was the loving father to Keely (Jim) Absher, Keri (Zorob Shnoravorian) Smith, and Emily (Chris Holifield) Smith; proud grandfather to Jorie and Paige Absher; cherished son-in-law of Clifford and Shirley Wood; dearest brother of Jim (Carolyn) Smith, Debbie (the late Tom) Tennyson, Martha (Bob) Allsup, Beth Pagel, and Lisa (Dan) Smith-Rothenbush and preceded in death by his brothers Dan and Curt Smith. He was also preceded in death by his parent Leo and Dorothy Smith and his niece, Krista Tennyson. Keith was a fond uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Keith was known for his kind heart, amazing sense of humor and his incredible musical talents. With a great appreciation for artists such as Ray Charles and Joe Pass, Keith was an avid guitar player and made lifelong friends through his love for music. In his early days, he played for the talented and infamous, The New Watermelon Rhythm Band. Never one to pass up a gig or a free beer, for that matter, Keith played all over the Midwest. He was a baseball fan that followed the Cardinals earlier in life and then the White Sox when he moved to Chicago.

There will be a celebration of his life this summer in Washington, IL. Details to come. Charitable donations may be made in his memory to GiGi's Playhouse, Tinley Park, IL. https://gigisplayhouse.org/TinleyPark/

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
