Kenneth Henry Mettam, of Ukrainian Village, Chicago, passed June 23, 2022, at the age of 86. Former resident of Crown Point, Indiana, and Danville, Illinois, Ken loved the city of Chicago where he resided for decades.
Beloved father of Christopher (Daniela), Matthew (Laura), Devin (Katherine) and Dane (Tiffany). Cherished "Papa Ken" / Grandpa of Sienna, Max, Evelyn and Madeline. Dear brother of Curt (the late Nancy). Dearest uncle of Nan, Janet, Gracie and Julia.
Ken was a proud veteran and served his country with the US Army during the Korean War from 1959-1961. He was a retired tax preparer for H&R Block and the former proprietor of Handi Foam. Ken was an avid reader and historian, a longtime lover of traveling and good cuisine. He lived vicariously through the adventures of his children, who will cherish his memory.
Family and friends will gather for a funeral service with military honors at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery in Lake Forest, IL, on Friday, August 5th 2022 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), a nonprofit charity that provides support for veterans of all generations and their families.
