In Loving Memory of Kevin Arthur Farrell

May 26, 1976- May 1, 2025

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Kevin Farrell who died on May 1, 2025, at the age of 48 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Born May 26, 1976, Kevin, or as he was affectionately known as Kevie, Kevo, Crash, Freakazoid, and Big Oot Ooter, lived a life defined by humor, heart and resilience. Kev was a talker—conversation was his art—and whether it was sports, memories, twenty-questions, or just making everyone feel heard, Kevin had a gift for connecting. He could talk to anyone, and he usually did.

A diehard fan of all things Chicago sports, Kevin cheered loudly and loyally for the Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of stats and player names, remained hopeful year after year, and he loved every minute of it—even when his teams broke his heart.

Kevin was a hard worker, often working overtime hours or taking shifts to make an extra dollar. He was friendly with his colleagues from his recent years working at Diebold-Nixdorf and was a legend for his many years at Takeout Taxi.

He had no children of his own, but he was a proud uncle, devoted son, a loyal brother, and the kind of friend you always wanted in your corner. He loved playing cards with his grandparents, cousins and friends and made people laugh with his unfiltered humor—especially when it came to fart jokes, which he considered a high form of comedy. His laughter was contagious, his loyalty unwavering, his questions unrelenting and his presence unforgettable.

Kevin was a great friend to many. His phone calls and good-byes could last hours, but no one minded—being in his orbit meant feeling loved and usually laughing.

He is survived by his parents, Arthur and Marilyn Farrell, brother Patrick (Ariane), sister Katie (Scott Amundsen), nieces Ashley, Stevie and Jemma, and countless cousins, aunts and uncles, friends and work associates.
