L.C.
Solomon
February 19, 1949 – April 19, 2026
L.C. Solomon, a proud U.S. Army veteran and lifelong resident of Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood, affectionately known as “Skipp” and, to many, “Captain Cottage Grove,” peacefully transitioned on April 19, 2026, at the age of 77.
He had a charismatic personality, a humorous wit, and was deeply loved by all who knew him. His lasting impression will never be forgotten.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Malinda Solomon, Vanessa Solomon, Stevie Solomon, Cinnamon Allison-Moore (Malcolm), Raphael Johnson, Lauren Childs, and Brandon Solomon; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren
He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Robin Solomon (“Cookie”), Kennieth Solomon, and Torue Solomon, along with a host of extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives he touched.
L.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Solomon and his sister, Brenda Solomon, whom he loved dearly.
Skipp will be remembered for his warm heart, his laughter, his wisdom, and the way he made everyone feel seen and valued. His legacy of love, resilience, and community will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Just Christ Ministries, 7421 S. South Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
