Leon Douglas Olsen December 14, 1943 - March 21, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Leon D. Olsen shares the news of his passing after a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Chestnut Avenue, Glenview, IL 60025 on Saturday April 14th 2018, 2:00pm. Coffee and a time of sharing immediately following in the church basement. Loving father of James (Catherine) Olsen and Jennifer (Matthew) Hardy. Beloved grandfather of Kristin (Michael) Williams, Joshua Olsen, Emma Hardy-Horton, Makenna and Kellen Hardy. Dearest great-grandfather of Jedidiah Williams. Cherished brother of Sharon (the late Kent) Stitt. Fond uncle of Donald Stitt, C. Kent Stitt Jr., the late Gordon Olsen Jr., Ronald Olsen, Cory Olsen, and Carl Olsen. Loved and preceded in death are his parents Oscar and Marie Olsen, and brothers the late Vernon (Rena) Olsen, and the late Gordon (the late Betty) Olsen. Leon was a retired firefighter for the village of Glenview, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He made friends with nearly everyone he met, and would “bump into” someone he knew whether a few counties or a few states away. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, camping, the woods, and a good campfire.
