Lessie Thomas

Lessie Thomas, a dedicated public servant and beloved mother, peacefully passed away on December 7, 2023, at her home. She was born on June 1, 1943, in Tupelo, Mississippi. Lessie's remarkable life was characterized by her numerous achievements and the deep love she shared with her family.

Lessie embarked on her professional career with determination and passion. She served as the Cook County Recorder of Deeds for many years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and constituents alike. Her unwavering commitment to public service left an indelible mark on the community she served.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lessie was a devoted mother who treasured her family above all else. She is survived by her five children:The late Aaron Henderson, Anthony Thomas, Wayne Thomas, and Theressa Gentry (Michael) and Michael Thomas. Lessie's love extended to her grandchildren as well: Anthony Thomas, Ashley Lioscomb, Taylor Gentry, Kempte Henderson, Kameron Henderson and Aarionna Henderson. Her spirit will continue to shine through in the lives of her great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Audrey, Messiah and Ka’oir.

Lessie's memory will forever be treasured by her family and friends. She was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and love, and her absence will undoubtedly be felt deeply. Although we mourn her loss, we take solace in the knowledge that Lessie lived a life rich in accomplishments and surrounded by loved ones.
