Lillie Ruth Buie

Lillie Ruth Buie, affectionately called Mot, and aunt Margret was born September 26,1941  in Jackson, Mississippi to L.C.Myers and LeDora Honer.  She confessed her life to Christ at an early age. 

Lillie was the oldest of her siblings although she was born in Jackson her life began when she moved to Chicago in the late 60's.  She worked for O'Hare airport for a few years as an aircraft appearance agent, she always played a role in hospitality whether it was at the Drake Hotel or the Mathers foundation from where she retired.  

Lillie was known for her open heart and pumpkin bread. She would feed everyone in the neighborhood if possible. She was courageous in her fight for life until her last breath. A play mother to some a Hero to all.

On May 29th, 2025 after daily visits and being surrounded by family and friends Lillie peacefully passed away. She was proceeded in death by her parents, L.C. Myers and LeDora Honer, sister Annie Lee, brother Eddie Carr, Paul Callaway Caston and two Brother-in-law's Lee Andrew Hoy and Eugene Ford. 

Lillie leaves cherished memories to her Beloved siblings  James Caston Jr, Thelma Hill (Richard), Ella Ford (the late Eugene), Patricia Graham, Ora Caston, Betty Rucker,Josephine Caston, Dessie Solomon (Henry). A host of God children, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church family and dear friends. 

Lillie was a wonderful  aunt and cherished friend to many, including her twice a year birthday buddies Miss Jill, Miss Sylvia, Miss Judy, Miss Barbara, and Miss Tracey. Each year they would celebrate at Red Lobster for their birthdays. 

Lillie loved to cook for her family and friends and was  famously known for her scrumptious banana and pumpkin bread. She was part of the care team and volunteered at the soup kitchen for many years. She loved knitting and many family and friends still fondly own her creations. Always willing to contribute to church functions, and any outside activities. She enjoyed  her crossword scratch off tickets, and actually won! She will be fondly remembered and truly missed.

 A celebration of life will be held June 13th, 2025 2 p.m.  United Church of Rogers Park 1545 West Morse avenue 60626.
