Linda L. Gabriel (Griffin), 80, of Chicago’s Bowmanville neighborhood, passed away on April 5, 2026. She was born August 8, 1945, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Bueford Mae Choate (Griffin).
Linda was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother whose life was centered around her family and her faith in God. She found great joy in cooking and baking, and she had a special talent for cake decorating- often creating beautiful and delicious food and treats that brought people together and made every occasion more meaningful.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Steven; her daughters, Laura Gabriel and Elizabeth (Jason) Ward; cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey, Liberty, Summer, and Brooklyn, who will carry forward her warmth, kindness, and love.
Linda was preceded in death by her daughter Melissa, her son Jeff, and her granddaughter Allisa. Though she endured deep loss, she remained a source of strength, compassion, and unwavering love to those around her.
Linda will be remembered for her generous heart, her deep faith, and the comfort she brought to her family through both simple moments and life's celebrations. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the love she shared, and the family she held so dear.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
