Manuel Diaz passed, 91, of Chicago and originally of La Esperanza, Las Villas, Cuba, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 12th.

Beloved husband of Rosa (neé Egues) for 70 years. Loving father of Vivian (Frank) Amato and Pablo (Christina) Diaz. Grandfather of Phillip (Mary) Amato, Manny Amato, Michael Diaz and Eric Diaz. Great grandfather of Frankie and Jack Amato. Manuel was predeceased by his parents, Pablo and Juana, and a young sister. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

As a young man in Cuba, Manuel followed in his father's footsteps and became a practicing pharmacist. After he arrived in the United States, Manuel was a computer technician for Allstate Insurance for many years.

Manuel's love for his family was unparalleled. He loved chess and playing the piano, he especially enjoyed Duke Ellington. In his youth, he traveled around Cuba and played the piano with a musical ensemble.
