Manuel Portalatin

Manuel Portalatin, 48, was raised in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood and formerly lived in Lincoln Park, McKinley Park, and Little Village until succumbing to cancer on April 10, 2023. On April 30, 1994, Manny married Sandra "SanDee" Carabez. He was the proud father of Manuel “Nico”, Mikaela “Miki”, and Christian. Their love and friendship were reignited after his diagnosis, and their marriage endured for 27 years. He is survived by his brother Eduardo Portalatin (Ivete Portalatin), brother/cousin David Loran (Marilu Loran), siblings Jessica (Emil Kalinski), Griselle (Omar Arroyo), Maribet Vigo, Evelyn Escobedo, and Derrick Jimenez. Manny "Dragon" was a proud Providence of God School alumni. He was a marijuana enthusiast who also loved skateboarding, Tae Kwon Do, and martial arts weapons. He was an HVAC Building Maintenance Technician and the owner of Mighty Manny's Heating and Air Conditioning.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Chicago Bridgeport VFW Post 5079, 3200 S May St, Chicago, IL 60608, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
