Margaret arrived in the United States in 1955 as a refugee from Romania. She settled, along with her parents and brother, in Chicago, Illinois. It was here where she met and eventually married her brother's best friend, Fred Busch. Margaret was a hard worker and later became the proprietor of her own manufacturing company, Exqual Transformers. She had a fondness for wolves and loved to garden. She especially enjoyed flowers, with sunflowers being her favorite. Margaret had a knack in the kitchen and was an amazing baker and wonderful cook. Her chili was a favorite within her family. She was widely traveled and a lifelong Cubs fan, notoriously late for family functions if it interfered with a Cubs game.
