Dr. Margaret Ann Gibson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Johnie Gibson Sr. and Minnie Ree McCarter Gibson. She graduated from Booker T Washington High School in 1965. She graduated from college earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1972 and a Juris Doctor Degree in Law 1983. She was a 1985 candidate in Who’s Who in America and was listed in the 1986 volume of Who’s Who Among Professional and Business Women International. She is a published author and owned a business incubation program that assisted entrepreneurs with pursuing their vision. She is the founder and President of Serving Others Inc., a non-profit corporation dedicated to good works. She spent more than twenty years speaking in prisons, homeless shelters, substance abuse programs, detention centers and on the streets. GOD called her to be an evangelist, teacher, builder and intercessor in HIS kingdom. In addition to her many talents, she has produced several spiritual television and radio broadcasting programs.
Throughout her life, Margaret embraced diverse roles that showcased her commitment and passion. Her work as a lawyer demonstrated her dedication to justice. As a social worker, she touched many lives, providing support and care to those in need. Additionally, her voice reached many through her work as a radio broadcaster, where she shared stories and information with her audience.
Margaret is survived by a loving family who cherished her dearly. She leaves behind her son James Ford, as well as her daughters Zakia Williams and her daughter in laws Christa Ford and Shareena Ford. Her grandchildren Rochelle Ford, Monique Ford, Darielle Williams, Quentin Ford, and Caleb Ford carry forward her legacy, as do her great-grandchildren Aaliyah Douglas and Josiah Douglas. Also among her surviving family members is her sister Brenda Chapital and God brother Archie Campbell.
Margaret was preceded in death by her son Richard Ford and several siblings: Johnie Gibson Jr., Ralph Gibson, and Linda Hervey. Her brother-in-law Whickleff Chapital and sister-in-law Gwendell Gibson also passed before her.
Margaret Ann Gibson’s life was marked by dedication to her professions and love for her family. She will be remembered for her contributions to society and the support she gave to those around her. Her memory remains in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
