In Loving Memory of Maria E. Perez
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Maria E. Perez.
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Chicago, Mom lived a life defined by love, compassion, and an incredibly big heart. She had beautiful green eyes, a warm smile, and a way of making everyone feel like family. She loved all, and in return, she was loved by all. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply a place to belong, Mom welcomed them with open arms. She also had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. Her laughter, quick wit, and ability to make others smile are gifts we will cherish forever.
She was strong, stubborn, and tough in all the best ways. She faced life’s challenges with courage and determination, never giving up on the people she loved. She was also a devoted daughter who faithfully cared for her own mother, making sure she was never alone and lovingly standing by her side until the very end. That same selfless love was evident in every part of her life.
Above all, Mom treasured her family. She is survived by her four children, Vanessa, Jacinta, Ismael, and Jesus, her 17 beloved grandchildren, and 6 great grand children who proudly knew her as Nana. Her love, wisdom, and unwavering support shaped their lives in countless ways.
Mom loved the Lord and found great comfort in Psalm 23, a passage that reflected the peace and strength she carried throughout her life.
While our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the gift of having her as our mom and Nana. There is a piece of each of us missing without her, and her absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled. Yet the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in all of us. She will always be with us—in our hearts, in our memories, in the laughter she shared, and in the way we love one another.
Until we meet again, we will carry you with us every day. We love you, Mom, and we always will.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
