Marshall "Prodie" Gunn Sr.

Marshall "Prodie" Gunn Sr. was born to Earnest and Cora Bivins- Gunn on May 21st 1949. He made his transition to the otherside Sunday September 14th 2025 at 1:15 P.M. surrounded by all 4 of his surviving siblings, children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Mother Cora Bivins-Gunn, Father Earnest Gunn Sr, Brothers; Leonard, Earnest, Emanuel (Burkey) Gunn, son Demetrius Ball and Grandson Emmanuel Hunter.

Marshall dubbed himself " The Jack of All Trades, Master of Many" and anyone who knew him will say he could do in his words "Just About Anything". He was the Superintendent of many buildings in Chicago, rehabbing, acquiring residents and then managing each property. He also worked for U.S. Steel and General Tire for many years before he retired. He was an avid fisherman who loved to plan fishing trips with his children and grandchildren. Known for his infectious laugh, he made friends wherever he went. A Peaceful man, when he was drafted to the United States Military, he went to court and fought on "Account of being a "Conscientious Objector of War; and won his case which released him from duty. Marshall could Chicago Step and Play any Card or Board Game anyone could name and tell a story that would take you on a comical journey.

Marshall leaves to celebrate his memory his Siblings: Gwendylyn Harmon, Lanesia Gunn Thornton , Ralph Gunn and Kathy Gunn- Burgess which he loved dearly. He often talked about fun times with his brothers and sister and made sure his children knew their aunts and uncles.

Out of the Union with Ora Gunn; Marshall Gunn Jr, (Diamond) Bonus Daughter Marcie Gunn. Grandchildren, Harper, Michelle Orisha, Marshall Oriada, David LaWrence, Devin Thomas, Darrius Marcus, Dionna Amari, Nokia and Great Grandchild Makinzi Gunn.

Out of the Union with Beverly Hunter Gunn, Marcus Hunter Gunn, (Genie've); Grandchildren Emmanuel, Ishmael, Morocco, Mecca.

Shant'e Gunn Ragin (Kevin), Grandchildren: Marshonna, Jada, MI'Angel and Great Grandchildren, Zayne Kano and Zaire Kevin-Jamiere.

The Union with Lytese Hartzog, Demetrius Ball, Grandchildren Demetrius Jr.

Marshall loved to ride his e-bike to run errands in the neighborhood and spend time with his Children and Grandchildren; He never missed an opportunity to gather with his sons Marshall Jr., Daughter-In-Law Diamond, Marcus and Daughter-In-Law Genovie to have a cookout and spend fun memorable times with his grandchildren. He loved his Daughter-In-Laws and Son-In-Law as if they were his own. He loved to travel to see his Children and Grandchildren in Atlanta GA. Known as "Pops" in Atlanta, Marshall will especially be missed by his Atlanta Family, Niece and Nephew Corey and Danyel Butler and God Son and Daughter Jay and Danielle Solomon who he was always sure to see when he was in town to visit his son Shamar, Daughter-In-Law Vivian; Shant'e and Son-In-Law Kevin and his Grand and Great-GrandChildren.

One of Marshall's main objectives was to make sure his Children Marshall Jr, Marcus, Shant'e, Shamar and Demetrius were all close and knew each other. Marshall was very proud that after many years of searching, his long lost son Demetrius was reunited with him and had the opportunity to know his siblings prior to his death in 2020.

Marshall, Prodie, Pops will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will forever live in our hearts, his laughter will never be forgotten. He always had a smile on his face and was loved by everyone.
