Michael John Jacobson, 56, died peacefully in his Chicago home on May 6, 2021, after a four year struggle with pancreatic cancer.

A renowned hairdresser for more than 35 years, Michael is survived by Michael Crowley, his husband and partner of 25 years, their nationally recognized Chicago salon and salon family, and a wide circle of family, dear friends and clients across the country. He was a kind, gentle soul who relentlessly pursued his passion for hair, fashion, music, the arts, all things Broadway, rescue animals, friendship, dessert, James Baldwin, social justice, human rights, gardening, and Christmas with equal, and seemingly limitless, enthusiasm.

Michael always carried with him a laminated card that read: “What we live, we learn. What we learn, we practice. What we practice, we become.”

Immediate arrangements will be private. A celebration of his remarkable life story and enduring legacy will be determined at a later time.
