Michael Kuzel

Michael Robert Kuzel, age 82, of Mt Prospect, formerly of Glenview and Winnetka, died on May 3rd , 2025, embraced by the love of his family. Mike was born on April 29 th, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. He graduated from Rockford College and Chicago Kent College of Law, practicing law in Chicago with courtesy and integrity for over 56 years. Mike’s first love was his family. He and his wife, Joan (Johnson) were married for 55 years and welcomed three children, Jenny (Doug Peshina), Anne (David Sisk), and David (Arlene) Kuzel, and seven adored grandchildren. A man of varied passions, Mike had a deep appreciation of horror movies, convertibles, music, theater and poetry, and he loved sharing these interests with his family. Survived by his sister-in-law Susan Johnson (Bob Wallace) and brother-in-law Christopher Johnson (Chris Johnson), four nieces and a nephew. Mike’s love of the theater began in childhood when he and his friends wrote, directed, and acted in plays mounted in his basement for the entertainment of neighbors. He honed his acting skills through high school, college, community theater, and in the courtroom. Mike’s quiet, gentle presence, and hugs will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on May 31st at 11:00am at Winnetka Congregational Church, 725 Pine St. Winnetka, Illinois. Interment will be private.
