Michael Kent Penn, 39, of Hastings, Nebraska, tragically passed away August 13, 2025. He leaves behind his beloved fiancée Elizabeth Bender; loving mother Lori DeLong; cherished sister MichelleDeLong and brother John Larkowski; treasured nieces Jazmine Meehan, Neveah Larkowski and nephews Tristan Meehan and Stephan Larkowski; and his dearest friends who were like brothers to him Kasino, Bobby Briggs, Kent "Bulldog" Schueler, Randy Husak, Harley Scarlett and Moose.
With a heart of gold, Michael truly loved taking care of the important people in his life and felt in debt to all those who helped him along the way. Through his past troubles and adversities, Michael dug deep and forged his way into a great man whom many couldn’t help but love almost instantly.
His strength and determination to grow and achieve his goals was inspiring. His caring nature and generosity were one of a kind. His sincerity and honesty were infectious. Everyone who met him witnessed his joy and positive outlook on life. He had an adventurous and daring spirit and was always looking to create new memories with those he cherished most.
Michael was an over-the-road truck driver and was super proud to haul some of the largest heavy machinery on the road. He loved the fact that he was able to explore and see new places while on the job. Michael loved to work and actively contributed to the companies that he worked for.
His passion for motorcycles stemmed from his deep love of freedom, adventure, and the sense of community they offer. He took every chance he could to ride so he was not ‘caged’ up in a vehicle. It was more than just a hobby for Michael, it was a lifestyle that provided a feeling of being present and a way to escape the pressures of daily life.
He was a skilled conversationalist and is remembered for his great story telling. If you were blessed enough to hear some of the crazy stories from his life, you know that most of them would make you second guess if they were true. Guess what, they were!
His smile and laughter will never be forgotten and to all those blessed to have known Michael, their lives have been, and will be, forever changed for the better.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, Sept 6, 2025 at the Adams County Fairgrounds located at 947 S. Baltimore Ave. in Hastings, Nebraska at 2:00pm.
