Michael Neal Wilson, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 6th, 2026, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born July 1st, 1952 to Neal and Mary Wilson in Seattle, Washington. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and beloved
stepmother, Kathryn Wilson. Michael is survived by his children; Erin Adelsman, Sean Wilson, and Paul Adelsman; grandson William, as well as many other cherished family and friends.
Michael was a man of deep faith. He dedicated his life in service to others. Upon graduating from Wheaton College with a Master’s degree in Youth Ministry, he served as a youth pastor in Salem, Ohio. After returning to the Chicagoland area, he earned his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Chicago and spent the remainder of his career supporting children, families, and those experiencing chronic illness.
Michael was generous with his time and talents. He was always eager to learn something new or go on an adventure. In retirement he took many memorable trips; he especially treasured his journey to Ireland, the many Disney trips, and summer vacations spent with his kids. He treasured his role as Granddad (Dodo) to his grandson, William.
Michael will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, compassion, and his love for a glass of wine shared with good company.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests, with gratitude, that memorial contributions be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the National Kidney Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
