Nancy Moore Wilson

December 7, 1953 — April 27, 2022

Nancy Moore Wilson, 68, of St. Charles, formerly of Plainfield, NJ passed away on April 27, 2022 after a long illness.

Beloved wife of William for 46 years. Loving mother of Kelly (James Curry) Wilson and Hayley (Scott) Menaker. Cherished Grammy of Theodore Menaker. Devoted sister of Jane (Francoise) Moore, Kathleen (the late Patrick) Petrella and the late Sue Ellen Moore. Fond Aunt and friend to so many people she touched during her life.

Born in Watchung, NJ to Elliott and Mary Maguire Moore, she lived with her parents in Scotch Plains and attended the nearby school where her mother was a teacher. After marriage, she and Bill moved several times, and at each place, she created a warm and welcoming home full of love. Her sense of humor was well-tuned and spontaneous, and her laugh so frequent it will be remembered by many.

A graduate of Immaculata University in 1975 with a degree in fashion and retailing, Nancy was a phenomenal saleswoman who sold everything from jewelry to greeting cards with a welcoming hospitality and unique knack for fulfilling her clients’ needs perfectly. She was also an ace seamstress and yarn master, crafting Halloween costumes, altering recital uniforms for her daughters’ dance school, and making every kind of knit and crochet items, few of which she kept to the delight of her family and friends. For a time, she had her own shop, selling a variety of handmade crafts and other items, put her prodigious talents to use once again.

Nancy’s was a nurturing mother, raising two talented and successful daughters. Nancy taught them independence through being able to meet every challenge, from fixing the plumbing to caring for cuts, scrapes and other perils of childhood for their daughters. She was enormously proud of their character and many exploits, especially their loving and generous personalities. Nancy was overjoyed when Hayley recently made her and Bill grandparents. After the onset of Nancy’s Alzheimer’s, her daughters worked tirelessly to make sure that her needs were met and her treatment was in her best interests.

Nancy’s loving nature extended to animals of every kind, welcoming numerous rescues into her home and caring for each of them with great affection. One or more (sometimes many more) dogs or cats roamed the house, together with an occasional hamster or rabbit in the arms of the kids.
