Patsy Ruth Samuels-Gerspach

Patsy Samuels-Gerspach, 87, of Dunning Square formerly of Chicago's Lakeview and Ravenswood neighborhoods entered into eternal rest with the Lord Jesus on September 5, 2021. She is survived by her six children John Samuels (Sue), Kathy (Daniel) Truszskowski, Richard Samuels, Mark Samuels, Martin Samuels, and Susan (Andrew) Smith, also by her grandchildren Trisha, Vanessa, Jonelle, Crystal, Jena, Justine, Cassie, Johnny, Matthew, Joey, Hailey, Drew and by her 14 Great Grandchildren along with her brother John Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Gerspach, The Father of her children, Edward John Samuels, her grandson Marky Samuels, her Parents Charles F. Brown and Florence A. Brown (Thomas) and her siblings Mary, Beverly, Tommy, Gary, and Charles Jr. Patsy was born in Christopher, IL on a farm and moved with her family to the Chicago area in her teens. She loved reading, was an avid writer of poetry, and always dreamt of becoming a roving reporter, a path that she happily exchanged for being the Matriarch of her family. She loved to travel. She relocated to California in1975 and then to Colorado in 1986 before returning to her roots in the Chicago area in 2004. Her signature vivacious laughter was of the contagious kind and she could be identified by that laugh from a distance. She was also well known for her fierce and spirited guarding of her children and her grandchildren. She loved deeply and was devoted to her loved ones, especially those closest to her. If you ever asked her about her life, she would tell you, "I lived a long and blessed life, full of adventures, some happy, some sad, but all mine and I wouldn't change a thing" She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
She never said "Goodbye", she always said, "I'll be seeing ya"....
