Peter T. Martz, age 64, of Oak Park; formerly of Detroit, MI., Washington DC, and Indianapolis, IN.; passed away suddenly on January 5th 2018. Beloved husband, companion and partner of Julia Moran Martz for 30 years. Doting caregiver of 2 cats, Spike and Buffy, and all the neighborhood squirrels. Loving brother of Katherine (Tom) Miller, Lisa Martz, and Christopher Martz (Jan Moonan Martz). Adored son of William F. Martz and Carol "Lou" C. Wells. Creative Director/Owner at MondoVox Creative Group, Chicago. Former Art Director at Miller Brooks in Indianapolis.
Peter was lost to an unforeseen hemorrhagic event, and his family is devastated. He was a talented graphic designer and artist with razor-sharp wit and the gift for making people laugh. He had a comeback for absolutely everything, but some of the funniest memories really shouldn't be shared on the internet. Peter loved cats, squirrels, creating art and guitars from found objects, writing music, and especially writing music about squirrels. Peter loved his wife. His perspective was refreshingly quirky; sometimes dark, sometimes goofy. Always choosing his words carefully, he was a practitioner of the adage "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". Some people may have thought that he "thought too much". Peter's heart was so huge it hurt. But maybe we could all be a little more introspective, like Peter.
The angels are weeping for our loss, yet they are singing for their gain. Memory eternal, Peter. You are the salt of the earth.
