Phillip Lawrence Conroy

Phillip Lawrence Conroy, 72, of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away on April 12, 2023, surrounded by family.  Dearest loving husband of Amy Krigbaum and father of Brian (Margaret), Sean (Liz), Catherine (Richard) Kandall, Anne Marie and Edmund; and grandfather of Alicia, Michael, Jacob, Kira, Ethan, Liam and Ronan.  

Phillip was born in Chicago, the youngest of six boys, including Michael (Lucy), James (Sharon), and Patrick (Kathleen).  His brothers John Thomas, Jr. (Joan) and Gerald (Mark) preceded him in death. Cherished son of the late John Thomas and Helen Zoe (nee Marhoefer) Conroy, Sr. 

Phillip started in construction as a Laborer for Marhoefer Construction.  After completing an Apprenticeship in Carpentry, he achieved the level of Journeyman Carpenter. He worked for several different construction companies before landing a job with Turner Construction. Over the many years of working for Turner, he rose to the level of General Superintendent for the Special Projects Division, where he was at the forefront of the reconstruction and renovations of many buildings and hospitals in the greater Chicagoland area.

Phillip will be remembered as a man with a strong work ethic. He gave generously of his time supporting his son’s youth soccer programs. He enjoyed golf, traveling to visit family, and canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Ontario in Quetico Provincial Park.

Phillip loved spending time with his large extended family all over the country and Mexico. Time was usually spent laughing, singing and telling bad jokes. He especially enjoyed times when family would gather at the family home in Michigan.

Although we will miss him terribly, he left us with memories to last a lifetime. A memorial service honoring Phillip will be held at Elmhurst University on June 24, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations to Samels Family Heritage Society, https://www.samelsfarm.org/ in Phillip’s name would be appreciated.
