Ralph J. Van Dorpe, Jr.

August 30, 1961 — December 20, 2020

Ralph J. Van Dorpe, Jr., peacefully passed away after a battle with cancer on December 20, 2020 surrounded by family. Ralph genuinely cared about people and was devoted to helping others. He is loved and will be missed by the many friends he made as an active member of the Lombard community. Ralph was a more than 20-year volunteer with the Lombard Jaycees which included working at the Taste of Lombard and Haunted House. He also volunteered at Lombard Cruise Nights, Sacred Heart German Fest and People’s Resource Center. Ralph earned his Graphic Arts degree at College of DuPage. The beautiful Christmas cards he created were a tradition that showcased his talent and love for his family. He was proud to be named Grand Marshal of the 2017 Lilac Parade. He looked forward to each calm, sunny day when he could spend some of his happiest times flying radio controlled airplanes. He loved making his nieces, nephews, and great nephew laugh. He will always be in the hearts of his parents Lorraine (Sentowski) and Ralph Van Dorpe, Sr.; siblings: Valerie (Van Dorpe) Kolinen and her husband Kenneth; Debra (Van Dorpe) Wilson and her husband Robert; Ross Van Dorpe and his wife Kimberly (Oblak); late Uncle Roman Sentowski, late Aunt Marie Van Dorpe, Aunt Celestine Van Dorpe; nephews: Joshua Priest, Benjamin Priest and Thomas Van Dorpe; nieces: Rachel (Priest) Bickhaus, Elise Wilson, Amanda (Wilson) Grooms, Natalie Van Dorpe, and Renee Van Dorpe; and his great nephew Nolan Bickhaus. Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House at https://rmhccni.org/donate/, a charity close to Ralph’s heart.
