With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rita Caroline Fors (née Iverson), who peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on June 7, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa, Rita was the beloved daughter of Clifford and Dorothy Iverson. She grew up in Davenport, Iowa, where she developed the values of faith, kindness, hard work, and love for family that would define her life.
On June 20, 1964, she married the love of her life, Lawrence, and together they shared 62 years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their greatest joy was their family.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; her children, Steven Fors (Leslie Schmidt), Sherri (David) Modrzejewski, and Chad (Julie) Fors; her beloved grandchildren, Bryan (Jessica) Fors, Justin (Noel) Forest, Teagan Fors, Danielle (Tyler) Simmons, Jacob Modrzejewski, Tyler Modrzejewski, Aiden Modrzejewski; 3 great grandchildren; her brother James (Shirley) Iverson and brother-in-law, Larry Dail; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Dail.
Those who knew Rita will remember her for her kind heart, serving spirit, infectious laugh, and unwavering faith. For 12 years, Rita was a professional confectioner, owning and operating her own candy store. She also found joy painting beautiful watercolor nature scenes, cooking and baking for her family, and teaching, mentoring, and nurturing those around her, always looking for ways to love people. This led to recent roles as a volunteer and board member at Faith Acres Foundation in Island Lake, Illinois, and as an elder in Anthology Church in Wauconda, Illinois.
Her family was the center of her life. Whether through everyday acts of kindness, words of encouragement, holiday traditions, or simply being present, she created a legacy of love that will continue for generations. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the countless memories she leaves behind and find comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, hospice caregivers, and all who provided compassionate care during her final days. We are also deeply thankful to the many friends and loved ones who surrounded our family with prayers, flowers, cards, calls, and unwavering support.
A celebration of life will be held on a future date to be determined. More information will be given by the family in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Acres Foundation in Rita’s memory.
Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye—it is simply "until we meet again."
