Robert “Bob” Ludtke, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, proud U.S. Army Veteran, dedicated accountant, lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and faithful member of his church community, passed away peacefully at his home on May 3, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on October 22, 1938, Bob lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, faith, and deep love for his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Medic Specialist. He devoted many years to his career as an accountant, where he was respected and admired for his strong work ethic, honesty, and dependable nature. Beyond his profession, Bob found great joy cheering on the Chicago Cubs and traveling with his wife and family.
Bob was deeply involved in his church throughout his life, generously giving his time and talents in service to others. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he found fulfillment in being an active and supportive member of his parish community.
Bob shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Mary Ludtke (née Jones). Together they created a loving home and a close-knit family that remained the center of Bob’s life.
He is survived by his wife Mary; children, Barbara Heiden (William) and Robert Ludtke Jr. (Joy); his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn, Erika (Kevin), and Jason (fiancée Teresa); and his treasured great-grandchildren, Stella, Flynn, and Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sophie Ludtke, and his beloved grandchild, Kristin. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bob’s devoted caregiver, Pam, whose compassion, kindness, and friendship brought comfort and support to Bob and his family.
Bob’s warmth, quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family remains grateful for the many memories, lessons, and love he shared throughout his life.
A service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at St. Thomas Becket Parish. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Bob’s life and legacy. Following the service, inurnment will take place at All Saints Cemetery.
