Robert (Bob) Pustay, 80, of Algonquin, passed away on August 21st, after a very brief illness.
Bob’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by him understand that his existence and the imprint he left on our hearts will last forever. Bob was born on November 23rd, 1942 in Chicago, IL. After graduating from Lewis University, he started his career in sales at Motorola where he met his wife, Barbara Solka, they were married in 1972. They have 2 children, Karen (Christophe) Maskell and Jim (Kate) Pustay and have had many pets throughout their lives.
Bob retired from Motorola in 2002. He chose to spend his days staying active. Bob was the biggest supporter and fan to both his children and grandchildren over the years. He frequently visited Karen and Christophe and his grandchildren Lucas and Sophie in Wichita, KS. He often traveled to Naperville to spend time with Jim and Kate and their 3 children Will, Ellie and GJ.
Bob was outgoing and loved being out and about experiencing new things and places. He enjoyed meeting new people. When Bob wasn’t working or spending time with Barb and his children and grandchildren, he could be found working out, swimming, biking, participating in activities with the Knights of Columbus, or golfing. Not a day went by where Bob didn’t talk about how much his children and family meant to him -- his family was arguably his most important achievement in life. Bob and Barb recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with loved ones this past year.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barb, his children, Karen (Christophe) and Jim (Kate), his grandchildren, Will, Lucas, Ellie, Sophie and GJ, his brother Jerry (Nancy) Pustay, niece Amanda (Matt) Basil, their children Lily and Emma, brother-in-law Jim (Judy) Solka, his extended family and countless friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen (Ribich) Pustay.
