Ruth "Ruthie" Evelyn Anzinger, 80, of Hebron, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, with her husband by her side, on June 6, 2025. Ruth was born to James and Annette Schmit on February 25, 1945. Ruth grew up in Lakemoor, Illinois, where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School in 1963. She married Joseph Anzinger on August 1, 1970. After living in Pistakee Highlands for 5 years, they bought land in Hebron and built their horse farm RAJA Acres, later renamed Deer Lake Farm, where they lived for 50 years.
Ruth was known for being sassy and sharing lots of smiles and laughs. She loved her animals deeply, and she especially loved to show her award winning horse, Shamis. Ruth also enjoyed bowling, late nights on CB radio, and snowmobiling. In later years, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, cross-stitching, tending to her garden flowers, and watching the birds return each spring.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Joseph, daughter, Jennifer (Erik) Anderson, and grandchildren, Evan and Nora. She is also survived by her sisters Terri Schmit, Puppet Crim, Paulette (James) Marzahl, and her brother Victor (Susan) Schmit. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James "Joey" Schmit.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the VFW, 3002 IL-120, McHenry, Illinois, from 11:00AM - 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may go to the Animal Humane Society in honor of Ruth.
