Ruth (Ruthie) Mary Kirkand entered eternal rest on March 3, 2026. Born on September 22, 1979, Ruth lived a life marked by loyalty, laughter, and deep pride in all she did.
Ruth took great pride in her work as an accounting bookkeeper. Outside of work, she found joy in travel, with Saint Thomas holding a special place in her heart as her favorite destination. Ruth had a lifelong love for animals, especially pets and rescue animals, and was known for her compassion and gentle heart toward them.
A true car enthusiast, Ruth was a proud member of the Chicago 5th Generation Camaro Club. She dearly loved her Camaro, affectionately known as “Bumblebee,” along with her fondness for bees in general—something that reflected her unique personality and joyful spirit. She also appeared as an extra on Chicago Fire, Season 12, an experience she enjoyed being part of.
Ruth was a proud and devoted Auntie to Makenna, Dallas, Lizzy, and Nathan, among many others. She was also a proud godmother. She was a loved cousin to many, and those relationships were meaningful to her.
Family, in all its forms, mattered deeply to Ruth. Her friends became her chosen family, and the bond they shared was strong, loyal, and enduring.
Ruth is survived by her biological mother, Margaret Kirkland, along with many relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched in her own unforgettable way.
Ruth will be remembered for her generous heart, her passions, and the deep connections she formed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
