Ruth Singer

July 21, 1935 — October 18, 2021

Ruth Singer, 86, of Worth, Illinois and formerly of Camden, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home within the presence of her loving family October 18th 2021.

Following her retirement from 3M as an Inspector and Plant Reporter, Ruth began her antiquarian bookstore Palos Books, which was located in Palos Hills. Her impressive collection drew purchasers such as Oprah Winfrey to her bookstore, which she later transitioned from a brick and mortar to an online business. Ruth loved gardening and her yard, which due to her dedication, flourishes with flowering plants and other greenery. She enjoyed cooking and shopping, the latter in which she would often do with her daughter, as it became their special time together.

Ruth is survived by her loving children Randal Kent (Frances) Brewer and Jacqueline Kim (Mark) Heikes; beloved grandchildren Kelly LaRaia, Mark Brewer, Nicole Gamez, Mark (Ryan) Heikes, Clynt Heikes, Wesley Brewer and Anthony Brewer; eleven great-gradchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Martin Singer (2018); dear friend and former spouse Warren Brewer (2015); cherished siblings Milburn Hatley, Helen Arnold, Ray Hatley and Marie Bates.

A luncheon to celebrate Ruth's life will be held Sunday, November 7th at the home of her daughter Jaqueline Kim and son-in-law Mark. The family humbly requests that friends and family contact Jacqueline Kim for time and address at: heikesjk@sbcglobal.net
