Sharon Lynn Myers (Devine Thoma), 74, died suddenly on Sunday July 2, 2023 at Ascension Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Illinois after many years of declining health.

She was born March of 1949.  Sharon’s parents Lillian and Daniel Vacondio lovingly provided for Sharon and her two sisters, Judy and Joan in their Lakemoor home.  Sharon married Raymond Thoma in 1969 and gave birth to daughter Danette Thoma.  After her divorce, Sharon married Earl Devine in 1982 and had a second daughter Louann Devine.

Sharon proudly was a Girl Scout during her school years, graduated McHenry High School in 1968, and earned several accounting certificates.  She worked in accounting and finance for various small and medium sized companies over the span of 30 plus years, and in the real-estate market as a loan officer. Sharon also enjoyed making people laugh and was most comfortable in the restaurant business for over 10 years.

Sharon enjoyed sharing her time and baking talents with others, including donating her time to the Youth of America Karate club for over 8 years, and generous support to various local organizations for both of her daughters and her grandson Daniel. Sharon also could be found cheering at her daughters various softball games in 1990s throughout Chicago and Wisconsin.  Sharon enjoyed gardening outside and took pride in her home appearance.  She cherished all of her grandchildren and always wanted them to feel loved and special with “small tickles to their toes.”

Sharon was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in McHenry during her childhood and early adult years, and was a volunteer catechist for preschoolers.  Sharon continued her Lutheran faith as a member of St. Peters’s Lutheran Church in Schaumburg for over fifteen years, where her daughters attended school.

Survivors include her daughters Danette (Carl Johnson) Thoma and Louann Mlekodaj (Stanley); and four grandchildren, Daniel Thoma, Charles, Marissa, and Evelyn Mlekodaj.

She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Lillian (Slinky) Vacondio; her two sisters, Judy Vacondio and Joan DeLeeuw; and her ex-husband and friend Raymond Thoma.

The family will have a private family viewing at the Chicagoland Cremation in Schiller Park on July 8, 2023.

For those wishing to send an expression of condolence, the family suggests memorials to the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (sralab.org) or the Chicagoland Dog Rescue (chicagolanddogrescue.org).
