Shirley Mae Sell

December 5, 1933 — July 19, 2022

Shirley Mae Sell, née Trainor

Shirley Sell, age 88, of Chicago, IL and former longtime resident of Harwood Heights, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

Beloved wife of Albert (passed July 11, 2020) for sixty-five years. Loving mother of Sherry (Bob) Auld, Brian (Barbara) Sell and Nancy Sell. Cherished grandmother of Megan and Erik Auld, Madeline (John) Holecek and Michael Sell, and Kelly and Caitlin Cullerton.

Shirley had an easy laugh and wonderful sense of humor. There was always a twinkle in those blue eyes. She was the life of the party and loved to sing and dance the night away. A terrific cook, Shirley always made everyday meals something special. Her strong work ethic and sharp business skills moved Shirley, together with her husband Al, to launch Kleen-Rite Inc., a successful carpet cleaning business, which they ran for over fifty years. Shirley and Al enjoyed summer adventures out on their boat, “The Getaway”, docked in Diversey Harbor.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held for both Shirley and Al together on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 11:30 to 2:30 at Sweet & Tart Restaurant, 110 S. Prospect Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068.

The inurnment of their ashes will take place on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for veterans at 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL at 2:30 pm.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy, to consider making a tribute donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation, www.Parkinson.org or plant memorial trees in Shirley's honor.
