Taylor Thomas

Taylor Thomas Jr., 71, lifelong Chicagoan passed away on March 28, 2022. Taylor will be remembered for his joyful smile, his incredible creativity and his generosity. We won’t forget how he made us laugh with his quick wit and how there was always either his camera or a glass of Jack in his hand.

Taylor Sr. and Rosa Thomas celebrated the birth of Taylor Jr. on October, 29, 1950. The family continued to grow giving Taylor eight siblings. Family and close friends would come to call him Boe. As a child, Taylor enjoyed art and education. He learned to sew at a young age and his desire to keep learning followed him throughout his life. Growing up he would make outfits for his siblings and dresses for his sisters. His curiosity and passion to seek out new experiences planted the seeds for his love of education. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University he went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Marketing from Roosevelt, and through it all he never missed the opportunity to photograph a good view or skyline at sunset. He so loved being an Alumni of Roosevelt University he accepted a position as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at the university and worked there for many years. He later went on to become the Assistant Director of Student Finances at Argosy University. His early love for education truly followed him throughout his life.

Taylor Jr. was a man of integrity. He saw life with an open mind and brought his creativity, curiosity and innovative talents into all he did. He will be greatly missed by so many but will be remembered for who he was and what he did.
Taylor Thomas Jr. is survived by his loving mother, Rosa (Griffin) Thomas; his sisters Sandra Griffin, Stephanie Flippen and Cynthia Bennett; his brothers Maurice (Cheri) Thomas and Jerry Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Taylor Sr.; his sisters Jacqueline Thomas and Sharon Thomas; his brothers Donnie Thomas and Larry Hawkins; and his nephew Terrill Taylor Thomas.

I am just learning today of your departure from this world. I should have known something was amiss when I did not hear from you after my Mother's passing on April 3rd.
I shall miss you my dear friend and your Christmas gift of a handmade Christmas card each year. I have kept them all as they are works of art. I treasure the memories of our working together at the Financial Aid Office at RU all those years ago.
Rest in Peace dear friend till we meet again.
