Theodore Porter

April 20, 1955 — January 12, 2024

Chicago

Theodore Jimmie Porter was born to Archie Lee Boyd and Robert Walker in Chicago IL.

Theodore graduated from Hirsch Metropolitan high school, then went on to the job corp shortly after. In the beginning, Ted, at a young age, took on his first two adventures- managing a newspaper route and assisting customers with their groceries on Saturday mornings. He acquired an internship with a neighboring Taylor and learned how to sew. Ted was a jack of all trades and a true entrepreneur and hustler at heart. Also known for being “great with his hands” as he developed a knack for carpentry skills. He could fix anything including the kitchen sink! He held many jobs throughout his life which included Jewel-Osco, Come-Ed, Shine King,Maintenance man, and Janitor for one of the largest buildings downtown Chicago.

Ted was very family oriented and loved his family dearly. He loved to drive and travel. Ted was a quick-witted individual, rough around the edges and well balanced. When you learned who he was you would fall in love with the gentle giant caring charm.

He was a very loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

On January 12, 2024, Theodore was called home to be with the Lord. Preceding him in death were his mother Archie Lee Boyd Gilbert, father Robert Waker and sister Lilliette Florence Franklin. He leaves a legacy of love for God, his friends, and definitely his family. Remembering Theodore’s loving kindness are his devoted and loving children: Clarence Maxwell (Melinda), Theresa Lee Porter- Morgan (Terrell), Alisa Ann Porter, Samantha Lee Porter and Latrina Domino  His siblings: Christine Porter Shelby (Jimmy), Henrietta Hamilton (Kerry)and Wardell Porter (Barbara). His grandchildren: Clarence Maxwell Jr, Tenia Porter, Tresean Morgan, Tierra Maxwell, Trinity Morgan, Terrance Maxwell, Titus Morgan, Hanz Williams, Madison Porter, CJ Bettis, Carter Porter, Evelyn Domino, and Emilia Domino.  1 great-granddaughter Nova Marie Moman.
