Therese “Resi” Bauer, 89 (nee Guerentz) of Grayslake, is at peace on June 26, 2024 after battling multiple health issues. Devoted wife of Joseph for 60 loving years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Traub (d.1962) Adored mother of Frank Traub, Kristina (Kurt) Lundgren and Elizabeth (Peter) Zieger. Cherished Oma of Emily, Alexander, Jennifer and Kathryn. Dear sister of the late Paul Guerentz (the late Theresa) and the late Johann Guerentz (Hermine). Loving aunt of  Angelika, Alfred, Peter, Ella,and Edward. Great aunt and friend to many.  

Therese was born in Sarvas, Croatia in a village that had been settled by Donauschwabian Germans in 1770s. In 1944, her family left their home behind due to encroaching Russian troops during World War II. They fled to Austria via horse and wagon as refugees. It was in Austria she met and married her first husband, Joseph Traub. Together, they immigrated to America in 1955, settling in Chicago, Illinois where they had their son, Frank. She was widowed in 1962. She met and married Joseph Bauer in Chicago in 1964 and they were happily married for 60 years. They had two daughters, Kristina and Elizabeth. Therese was a homemaker known for her excellent cooking and baking. After retirement, she and Joseph lived in Wheeling, Illinois, eventually settling at Saddlebrook Farms in Grayslake, Illinois. Together they enjoyed traveling, having visited almost all the 50 states many times over as well as many countries abroad. She was a devoted Oma to her 4 grandchildren and had the pleasure watching them grow into accomplished young adults. A celebration of life is to be determined at a later date and time.
