Thomas Edmund Fitzpatrick, affectionately known as "Fitz", was born on October 28, 1950, in Oak Park, IL and grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. Tom peacefully passed away on May 6, 2025, in hospice care in Barrington, with his loving daughter by his side. In his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends and felt the warmth of everyone's love.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sue (nee Goedert) Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Melvin) Blackwell, his son, Thomas Fitzpatrick, and his granddaughters, whom he lovingly referred to as "Papa's Flowers" Lily, Violet, and Cami Sue Blackwell. Tom is also survived by his brothers, Eddie (Tani), Jerry (Cheryl), John (Jordan), Terry (Kathy), and sisters, Peg (Doug) and Mary. Additionally, his memory lives on with a large and loving family including countless nieces, nephews and cousins who will remember him fondly.
A proud graduate of St. Patrick's High School and Northern Illinois University where he was a memorable Brother of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. “Fitz" developed many lifelong friendships that transformed into family bonds throughout his life. His warm spirit and vibrant personality touched everyone he met and his legacy of love and friendship will endure in our hearts forever.
Tom (Fitz) will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for his kindness, humor and joy he brought into our lives.
