Thomas Sheerin

Thomas Edward Sheerin, 70, of River Grove, Illinois, died September 19, 2025, at Hines VA Medical Center in Hines, Illinois. He was born on February 23, 1955, to Anne H. (Gilbert) Sheerin and Peter J. Sheerin in Joliet, Illinois. Tom served two years in the U.S. Army. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a master’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago. He recently retired from Hines VA Medical Center.

Tom was always curious and loved to converse; he was an avid reader, he enjoyed listening to music, and he was a funny man with a quick, sarcastic wit. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his son Edward Sheerin of Niles, Illinois; sister Katherine McColl and family of Moline, Illinois; sister Elizabeth Fromer and family of Manhattan, Illinois; and close friends Lavern Mitchell and Raymond Betke of Niles, Illinois, and Tammy Hamilton and Mary Russell of Urbana, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry Rhoades, and sister Louise Sheerin.
