Timothy James O'Neill, age 83, passed away on February 10, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois. He was a longtime resident of Beach Park and Antioch, Illinois, places he called home for many years.

Born on November 2, 1942, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Tim lived a life defined by hard work, independence, and dedication to the things he cared about most. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1969, and continued his service in the Naval Reserves for several years thereafter. In 1978, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a foundation that supported his lifelong work as a business owner.

Tim was the longtime owner and operator of The Duck Inn in Wadsworth, Illinois, which he ran for 40 years. Beyond the restaurant, he was deeply committed to the breeding and raising of Portuguese Water Dogs for more than three decades. His involvement extended well beyond his own kennel—he served the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Greater Chicagoland, including several years as President until his resignation in 2008, and later as Secretary.

Tim was preceded in death by his wife, Rae Kweder; his parents, Aurelia M. Nistler and Raymond J. O'Neill; and his eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his sons Timothy (Melissa) and Brian (Amy); grandchildren Chloe O'Neill, Andre Mullin, and Mackenzie Dooley (Sirocco); great-granddaughters Kylie, Sofia, and Leela; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Tim's wishes, his ashes will be spread at the family cabin in Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options in Schiller Park, Illinois.
