Vi Khuong Tran

Vi Khuong Tran passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025 surrounded by friends and family. He was 37 years old. 

Vi was born May 18,1988 in Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam. He lived a vibrant life in many locations including Hong Kong, Singapore, Depue IL, and most recently Sycamore IL. He is survived by his husband, Brian Gilbert; his parents, Thi Phuoc Do and Tuan Vi Tran; two dogs, Gucci and Bella; and many friends he counted as family.

Vi was a man with an entrepreneur’s brain and an artist’s heart. Over his life he owned two nail salons, a coffee shop, and most recently was employed at Design Nails in Sycamore. Vi was a compassionate soul dedicated to justice and inclusion, passionate about helping immigrant families find housing, and helped anyone he saw in need. He was always willing to listen to someone’s problems, laugh with a friend, and show compassion and love to all that he met. Everyone that knew him understood he would always bring his unique mix of life and joy with him into any room he walked into.

Services will be held at Sycamore United Methodist Church in Sycamore Illinois on Saturday, 11/22/2025. Visitation will be 9:30 am- 11:00 am. Service at 11:00 am with lunch to immediately follow.
