It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt Viki (Scheidemann) Andringa, who passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5th.
Viki was a unique individual, known for her quick wit and generous soul. She had a deep passion for music, playing the piano, singing in her church choir, and directing the handbell choir. She valued simplicity and prioritized time spent with family and friends, and will be remembered for her wonderful home-cooked meals and the boundless love she had for her family.
Viki dedicated over 20 years of her life to education as a teacher and principal, particularly enjoying her work with 3rd and 4th graders. She later spent the last 10 years of her career working in a hospital, ensuring patient rooms were immaculate and providing a calming presence in the hospice unit.
A person of quiet determination, Viki championed those she loved, caring for both her parents in their final days and bravely fighting multiple health issues to remain with her children and grandchildren. She passed peacefully, surrounded by love, after deciding she was ready to move on.
Viki is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Phyllis, her brothers Mark, Peter, and Kurt, and survived by her brother Eric (Shelley) Scheidemann, son Joe (Susan) Day , daughter Sarah (Jack) Brooker, and her grandchildren Maddie, Norah, Katherine, Lucy and Danny Brooker, and Rachel and Adam Day, along with her many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Meals on Wheels America, an organization for which Viki proudly volunteered.
Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options in Schiller Park, Illinois.
