Vivien Elise Alsberg Beirne passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January, 4th, 2026, after a long courageous fight against breast cancer. She was born in Chicago on December 8th, 1960, to Frank Alsberg and Roxana Paulson.
She is survived by her devoted fiancé Jerome Gilman, children Oliver (Kelly) and Rosalie Beirne; stepmom Dee, her brothers Keith (Kit) and Eben (Agnieszka), sister Beth (Kat) Alsberg, mother Roxana Paulson, uncle Steve Alsberg, her adorable kitties, Poseidon and Coral, and many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends worldwide.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Alsberg, grandparents Nils and Regina Paulson, Curt and Beate Alsberg, and her aunt, Linda Alsberg.
Vivien received her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and went on to practice nursing in a variety of specialties before landing on pediatric home health care.
Vivien was the consummate caregiver. She was selfless, always putting the care for others first, dedicating her life to caring for sick children and others in need. She radiated compassion, generosity, kindness, positivity, understanding, and light into the world, and everyone she came in contact with felt her love.
She loved making music, singing, traveling, drawing, creating art, astrology, spirituality, healing through alternative medicine, animals, long walks in nature, and even longer talks.
The boundless love and joy Vivien emanated her entire life made our world a better place, and we celebrate everything about her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Per her wishes, a memorial will be held in spring, once the weather warms up for an outdoor remembrance and celebration of her life. Details will be posted once we know more.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are appreciated.
