Wendy Alandy Brown (née Obial) was born on May 22, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois. Wendy was the eldest of the six daughters of Jose and the late Arsenia “Mel” Obial. In high school, she enjoyed playing tennis and singing in the choir. As a young adult, she was a model who dreamt of becoming a recording artist. Over time she developed a passion and talent for making jewelry, and was an expert on crystals and gemstones, and their metaphysical properties. Yet her deepest desire was always to be a loving and dedicated mother—And that she was.
Wendy died unexpectedly on May 30th, 2025, four months after a successful liver transplant. The hopeful and joyous time she was able to spend with her family before her death was a valuable blessing, gifted by her dear cousin Zara Tan (née Talaue).
She was the beloved wife of Larry Brown for 33 years and the devoted mother of Rivkah, Sarah, Jojo (Ponyboy), and Elijah. Her protection and enthusiastic support of her children will live on for eternity. She is also survived by her sisters: Joan Obial, Lisa Rath, Pam DeWitt, Angie Obial, and Diane Dale. She will be missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her spirit will be forever present with all of her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, please share your favorite memories of Wendy with the family.
"I am deeply grateful to my family and friends, who have been my greatest inspirations and unwavering support throughout my life. I hope they remember me for the unconditional love I shared and the strength I showed in overcoming life’s adversities." - Wendy Brown
