Wilbert James Toutant, Jr

Wilbert James (Jim) Toutant Jr., of Illinois, died peacefully in his sleep at his home, Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 surrounded by family and loved ones. He was 77. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Jim was born February 5th, 1944 in Chicago, Il., to Wilbert and Anne Toutant. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jo Ann. They were married for 54 years. Survived by his son, Jeffrey (Valerie) Toutant; daughter, Jodie (Dan) Wokurka; granddaughter, Jenni (Glenn) Radtke; grandsons: Christopher Annicks, Garrett (Ruta) Williams, Trevor Michaels, and Cody (Mallory) Michaels. Beloved Papa to his three great grandsons, Rocco, Dominic, and Kalan. He is also preceded in death by his daughter in law, Felicita and grandson, David.

Though Jim's health was failing for quite some time, few people knew the extent to which he struggled. His enduring love for his family allowed him to fight through the last year. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandsons with all of his heart. One of his greatest pleasures in life was spending time with his great grandsons and talking about hockey, fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed. Jim will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a patriarch, proud patriot, avid fisherman, hunting enthusiast and outdoorsman. Wonderful mentor and shining example of true fatherhood.

We love you a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck. We love you! Meet you in the woods.

My condolences to all this branch of the Toutant family, descendants, like me, of Nicolas Toutant (1652-1711) originally from Courtalain, France and who came to settle in Nouvelle France (today's Québec) around 1674. My greetings dear distant cousins.
