William Joseph Hennessy , 77 , of Westmont, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family. Beloved spouse of his precious Janie (née Shermeta) Hennessy, whose passing broke his heart. Father of Andrew Hennessy, Captain, U.S. Army (retired). Brother of Loretta Sheehy. Predeceased in life by Bernard Joseph Hennessy (Father) and Catherine Durkin (Mother), and siblings Eleanor Hennessy, Bernard Hennessy, Leo Hennessy, James Hennessy, Ethelrita Harris, Helen Manksy, Catherine Houghland and Patrick Hennessy. Graduate of St. Etheldra Grade School (1959), Mendel High School (1963), University of Illinois (1967) and Chicago Kent College of Law (1979). Trial Lawyer for over 30 years who dedicated his career to helping the less fortunate by doing pro bono cases for Shriners Hospital, Misericordia and other institutions that could not afford legal representation. He was a devoted husband and father and he never wavered in his responsibility to love, cherish and provide for his family. The mass of celebration of his life will be at Saint Mary’s of Gostyn Church on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at 10 AM. Interment at Queen of Heaven cemetery will be immediately following the mass.
