Woodrow McKelphin, born on June 16, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, peacefully passed away on July 14, 2026. His life was a testament to dedication—both to his work and to his cherished family. Woodrow’s roots in Chicago shaped a character defined by resilience, warmth, and an unwavering sense of community.
Woodrow’s passions enriched both his own world and the lives of many others. He was a proud Free Mason, engaged in community efforts and fellowship. Known for his love of dancing and playing cards, he brought joy, laughter, and camaraderie to every gathering. Perhaps most memorably, Woodrow was ever ready to help others, extending kindness and support whenever there was a need.
Woodrow’s legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his son, Christopher McKelphin; his daughter, Taylor Mckelphin Moore(Abdoulaye Ly); and his son-in-law, Abdoulaye Ly. His grandchildren—Chris Lipscomb, Lance Green Jr, and Tylor Mckelphin—will always remember their grandfather’s strength, wisdom, and the affection he showed them. Woodrow is also survived by his devoted sister, Alice Mabry; his brother, Michael Mckelphin; his brother-in-law, Floyd Mabry Jr; his sister-in-law, Kayveletha Mckelphin; and his beloved mother, Yvonne McKelphin.
The memory of Woodrow’s kindness, generosity, and love remains an inspiration to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep community ties, and enduring family bonds. His presence will be dearly missed but fondly treasured in the hearts of family and friends.
