Yvonne Hughes

Yvonne Hughes, 87, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, having lived a full and vibrant life that spanned continents and generations. Originally from Antwerp, Belgium, Yvonne's journey took her across the United States and abroad, with homes in Kentucky, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Massachusetts, the Netherlands, and most recently, Illinois.

Yvonne was the beloved wife of the late Freeman C. Hughes, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her children: Daniel F. Hughes (and his wife Tracy Wilson), Robert C. Hughes, Nina A. Hughes (married to Phill Rozga), and her late daughter Selena Hughes (married to James Kuch).

Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Rachel Hughes, Madelyn Hughes, Ashley Hughes (married to Eddy Bustamante), Audrey Hughes, Elyse Likins, Ava Likins, Jane Kuch, and Charles Kuch.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her brother, Willy Verscheuren, and her parents, Robert and Louise Verscheuren.

A gifted painter and decorator, Yvonne brought beauty and color into every space she touched. Her creativity extended into a lifelong passion for knitting—an art she pursued with fervor.
