Zeljko V. Ocic, of Terry Town, Louisiana, formerly of Toronto, Canada, and Sibenik, Croatia at rest December 2, 2019.
After a short and severe illness at the age of 84, our dear brother, uncle, uncle and friend Željko Očić left us.
He graduated from the Šibenik High School and then studied in Zagreb.
Already as a student, he was involved in water polo, weightlifting, horseback riding, filming, and he was a model to sculptor Vanji Radaus for the statue of the Disc Thrower near Dinamo Stadium.
After completing his shipbuilding studies in Zagreb, he worked briefly in his home country.
Persecuted and imprisoned for patriotism in 1968. goes to the American continent. He learned the language by doing the hard work of a lumberjack, then nostrifying his degree and working as a mechanical engineer in Toronto, Chicago and New Orleans. He was hardworking and successful in his business.
He loved tennis in America. He was a temperamental and heartfelt player. He attended all sports events, especially in his home country. He was an ardent fan of the football club "Dinamo" from Zagreb.
After his retirement, he came every year to Croatia and Sibenik, where he met with family and friends, with whom he was always caring and emotional.
Goodbye dear friend, you will live forever in our hearts.
