What are Your Options for Cremation Services?

May 16, 2022

Chicagoland Cremation Options offers several different plans for cremation services, ranging from direct cremation to plans that include a memorial service.

When you are seeking cremation services near Evanston, IL, you may want to consider hiring a direct cremation company. They provide services ranging from very basic direct cremation to options that include a viewing, visitation, and memorial service. Depending on your budget and needs, you may find a wider variety of options and more inexpensive price points by choosing a direct cremation company, especially one that owns their own crematory.

At one end of the spectrum is the most basic direct cremation services. The family will notify the cremation service provider of the death, and they will provide transportation from the place of death, a climate-controlled holding area, and they will file all necessary documentation with the local, city, and state authorities. After this, the individual cremation will take place, and the family will be given the ashes back in a temporary urn. You have the option to purchase a permanent urn, any keepsake items, a death certificate, and any in-home arrangements.

While direct cremation is the most affordable option, many people choose to upgrade with additional services. You can purchase a package that includes an upgraded cremation container with a liner and pillow, as well as your choice of three urns for scattering, burial, or display. Another alternative would be an option with a private family goodbye, involving a small private viewing for immediate family to take place before the cremation. If you’d like to hold a memorial service at an affiliated funeral home, this is possible as well.

Some people may want to hold a full visitation or viewing and funeral prior to cremation. You may have either a half-day visitation that takes place on the same day as the funeral and committal, or you may have a full day visitation that takes place the day prior. If you want a viewing, you will need to pay for embalming services as well. After the visitation or viewing, a chapel service or funeral mass can take place. Following the service, the body will be cremated.

If you choose to use a non-affiliated funeral home, you may incur additional fees. This is also true if you choose to purchase any additional urns or other merchandise. Any fees associated with cemetery interment will not be included in the cremation service provider’s prices. Additionally, if you will be using a member of the church or clergy to provide religious services for the funeral or memorial, you may have to pay additional fees for that as well.

At your provider of cremation services near Evanston, IL, they can walk you through all your options for cremation services. Be sure to ask for a detailed price list, so that you know exactly where your money will be spent. If you have any questions about what is included or how to find other necessary resources, don’t be afraid to ask. That way, you can be sure that you’re getting all the services you need, and your loved one will be treated with respect and dignity as well.
