Elk Grove Village, IL cremation

When you hear a co-worker, a friend, or someone else you know has lost a loved one, you want to reach out to them to let them know you are there for them. Many people send flowers or sympathy gifts of some kind after Elk Grove Village, IL cremation takes place and that’s always nice. Some families get overwhelmed by flowers, however, and sometimes other gifts are better. Whether you send something or not, it’s always nice to include a personal note inside a sympathy card. As you sit down to write it out, what should you say? Here are a few ideas:

Thinking Of You

The main point of the sympathy card is to let your friend know that you are thinking of them during this difficult time. Keep in mind that there aren’t many things you can say to make them feel better, but knowing your thoughts and prayers are with them can help.

Offers Of Help

You can also let that person know that you are there for them for whatever they need. You might offer something specific of just say that you’re there for them. They need to know they have people on their side who are willing to help them through this difficult time.

Favorite Memories

If you knew the person who passed on as well, you might relay a short memory or story about them in the card that will bring a smile to your friend’s face. You won’t want to go on for pages and pages but hearing something that someone else remembers can really help them recognize that memories live on, even when someone passes away.

Invitations

If you have ever lost someone, you know the person grieving may not feel up to doing much right away. Invite them to give you a call whenever they want an ear or tell them that you’ll drop by in a few weeks and then follow up on that. They need to not only know that you are there, but also to feel it in real life through your actions.

Affirmations

Try to stay as positive as you can and tell your friend you love them, that they are special to you, or something else affirming that will help them to see the light at the end of this dark time. This could be something they hold onto as they move forward.
